Half-Way Reflection

Now that I have made it half way through my computer utilization class, I am more aware of different technology uses and sites that can help me in the future as a teacher. I have learned about several new sites that will help me develop lesson plans, form rubrics, and sites that offer free pictures and music to use on worksheets or presentations. The most important concept I have learned so far is how to involve children with programs that involve graphing different experiments. At a young age, children can begin to understand and form graphs of different activities that they have done in class. This will give them a visual representation of the results and for them to be able to compare and contrast their peers results. I feel that I am more aware of the pros and cons of technology use in the classroom and how to successfully adapt lessons that children can perform on the computer.

Again, I agree with you. It is so amazing what students at such a young age are capable of. Using technology early in their lives at home and at school will certainly give them more opportunities to learn. Anything you can do to show them alternative methods of looking at information can greatly improve their understanding of information.

I also think that it is great that we are learning how to use the different programs in order to teach children more about graphing the results of experiments. I know myself that I still need more experience with the different programs, and if they learn more at a younger age it will definitely be beneficial to them. I really like the fact that we are learning all about educational websites that will help us in the classroom.

I agree! I too am aware of all that is out there, because it's a lot! There are some cool sites that will help us in our every day teaching endeavors, not just once in a while and that is something I feel is the most beneficial aspect of this course. Are there any sites you disliked though? Or things about this class? I know that it's a lot of work but it will pay off in the end. Additionally, I agree with the fact how the m&m activity is neat to do with students and how they are capable of so much!
