An Introduction

Hello everyone! This is Lauren H. from Findlay, Ohio. I am currently a junior at BGSU and am an early childhood major. Some interests of mine include playing softball or volleyball, skiing, watching movies, going out to eat, hanging out with friends, text messaging, taking naps, working out, going to the beach, and ice cream. I am hoping to get out of EDTL 303 a better understanding of how to work with technology and how to incorporate that in to future lesson plans. I hope to gain more skills with using Power Point or various applications that would be useful in the future. I think that being able to use technology in classrooms is very important because it allows children to learn in a different way. They are able to have a visual and hands-on experience and could learn or understand better by utilizing different technologies. A con to this in an early childhood setting is being able to capture their attention because they will want to play with different buttons on the computer and may not focus their attention on what they need to do in order to complete an activity. A question that I have would be what programs would be appropriate to use with young children? In order to correctly incorporate technology into the classroom that deals with the use of computers has to be age appropriate and something that will captivate their attention.
